PH records average mobile speeds of 18.79 Mbps —Ookla Feb 2022 data

Ookla has released the Speedtest Global Index for February 2022, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has decreased 2 positions in Mobile and dropped 1 spot in Fixed Broadband.

The country ranked 94th globally for the Mobile category, recording an average download speed of 18.79 Mbps. The mobile upload speed was registered at 5.61 Mbps, while 23 ms is the average latency. Despite the drop in rank, all current stats saw improvement compared to the January 2022 ranking of 92nd that listed a 17.95 Mbps download speed, 5.42 Mbps upload speed and latency of 24 ms.

For the Fixed Broadband, the country placed 68th, posting an average of 49.10 Mbps download speeds. The average upload speed and latency were recorded at 46.92 Mbps and 6 ms, respectively. Compared to the previous month's ranking of 67th that registered an average download of 49.52 Mbps, 44.41 Mbps for upload, and latency of 6 ms, only the upload speed gained.

PH ranks 94th in mobile and 68th in fixed broadband, according to the February 2022 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) dominated the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, recording an average speed of 133.51 Mbps. Chile topped the fixed broadband category, with an average of 197.59 Mbps download speeds.

Networking testing platform Ookla noted that they used median download speed to accurately represent the typical user experience.

The Speedtest Global Index for February 2022 includes 138 countries for Mobile and 180 for Fixed Broadband.

Ookla's Speedtest platform compares results on internet speed globally, based on millions of tests conducted every month using the internet testing service.

Additionally, Ookla requires at least 300 unique user results for both mobile or fixed broadband to be ranked in either category, utilizing a massive internet testing infrastructure with over 10,000 servers in more than 190 countries.
