Google has launched the Google Trends Philippine Elections page, showing top queries, topics, and most searched candidates running for the May 2022 elections.
Visiting the Google Trends Philippine Elections page, users will see the following sections:
- PH: Search interest in top searched presidential candidates, past week
- PH: Search interest in top searched vice presidential candidates, past week
- PH: Search interest in political issues, past week
- Top regions searching for elections, past week
- PH: Related searches to elections, past week
- Related topics
The topics included in the political issues are education, drugs, economy, tourism, agriculture, justice, and poverty.
The tech giant noted that the Trends page is not a poll or survey and doesn't reflect voting intentions.
Moreover, the information available on the page is embeddable, meaning you can place the content on your website rather than only linking to it. Even if the embeds are placed on a different site, they will still update accordingly.
As of writing, the Google Trends Philippine Elections page shows that Vice President Leni Robredo and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio were the most searched candidates for president and vice-president, respectively.
Based on data gathered from March 4 to 11, 2022, 46% of Google searches on presidential candidates were about Robredo, followed by Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos (26%), Senator Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao (12%), Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso (11%), and Senator Panfilo "Ping" Morena Lacson (5%).
On the other hand, 48% of Google searches on vice-presidential candidates were about Duterte, followed by Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan (29%), Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III (14%), Walden Bello (7%), and House Deputy Speaker Jose "Lito" Atienza (2%).
