PLDT-Smart has announced that it has dominated telco rivals at the Ookla Speedtest Awards for Q3-Q4 2021. PLDT earned the Fastest Fixed Network title, while its wireless arm Smart named Fastest 5G Mobile Network.
For 5G mobile, Smart registered a Speed Score of 201.95, beating Globe with 116.08. Specifically, Smart 5G posted median download speeds of 218.82 Mbps and median upload speeds of 22.46 Mbps.
For this 5G test, Ookla said it compared 325,396 user-initiated 5G tests conducted on the Speedtest mobile apps (Android and iOS) from all the major mobile carriers in the Philippines during the award period in order to determine who showed the fastest mobile network speeds.
Meanwhile, for the fixed broadband, PLDT recorded a Speed Score of 77.24, dominating Converge (53.16), Sky (38.92), and Globe (25.66). It registered top download speeds of 203.97 Mbps and top upload speeds of 217.07 Mbps.
For this broadband test, Ookla compared 59,440,567 user-initiated tests taken on various Speedtest applications connected to a fixed network, such as tests taken on mobile phones over a WiFi connection.
To recall, Smart also achieved the fastest mobile network in the Philippines for Q3 2021, recording a Speed Score of 59.71.
