Game developer Krafton has announced that its battle royale game PUBG New State will collaborate with the popular JRPG series Nier (Automata and Replicant).
"New collaboration coming soon to NEW STATE MOBILE! #NEWSTATEMOBILE #NieR #NewStatexNieR @NieRGame," the Twitter post read.
Besides the announcement of the PUBG New State x Nier collab, no further details have been revealed, such as the release date.
For the uninitiated, PUBG: New State or New State Mobile is a multiplayer online battle royale game developed by PUBG Studios and published by Krafton. It launched globally for Android and iOS devices in 2021. While the game has a similar feel to PUBG Mobile, its graphics have been upgraded, and many new features have been included. Moreover, it offers various game modes, such as battle royale mode, training grounds, and deathmatch mode.
Nier: Automata, created by Platinum Games, and published by Square Enix, was released in 2017 for PS4 and PC platforms and then rolled out in Xbox One in 2018. The JRPG is set in the "Nier" universe, a spin-off of the "Drakengard" franchise. It features open-world environments, several playable characters (unlocked as players progress through the game), melee and ranged weapons, and massive action.
Meanwhile, Nier: Replicant ver.1.22474487139 is a remastered version of the original Nier. The game follows a hero who embarks on a mission to fulfill a promise made to his sister Yonah, who is very ill due to a horrible disease known as Black Scrawl, which is caused by a strange beast that haunts the city and its inhabitants. To fulfill his pledge, the hero must embark on a quest with his comrades in search of the "Sealed Verses." The game is renowned for its visuals and unconventional five endings, which are believed to send players on an emotional rollercoaster.
Recently, Square Enix has also announced that Nier: Automata is getting a television anime adaptation.
