NetEase Games has announced that the NetEase Games Developer Summit 2022 will be held from April 18 to 21. Highlighted discussions from the event will be available for free on NetEase Games' YouTube channel, allowing fans worldwide to learn about the industry's ever-changing nature.
The NetEase Games Developer Summit gathers industry leaders and special guests to discuss video game development and their experiences in the industry.
Last year's 2021 NetEase Games Developer Summit featured ten international speakers who discussed game industry topics, cross-discipline collaboration during development, and their personal perspectives on globalization. Sixty-five industry media outlets covered the event, and over 110,000 people viewed the live stream.
The world of games is constantly evolving, both technologically and in terms of how fans interact with their favorite titles. Moreover, there is a greater push for games to reach as many people as possible worldwide and for games to be available on various platforms. This alters the way games are developed, as multiple markets must be considered, both for localization and promotion.
The 2022 NetEase Games Developer Summit event will bring together industry veterans worldwide to discuss their experiences working in the industry, their perspectives on globalization's future, and the possibilities of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the Metaverse.
The event will feature three concurrent sessions focusing on Art, Game Design, and Programming. Among the guest speakers are as follows:
- Filip Coulianos – the Lead Level Designer for the multi-award-winning co-op platformer "It Takes Two," will discuss the game's development and the difficulties that the small team encountered.
- Toshihiro Nagoshi – the president of Nagoshi Studios and former producer of the Yakuza and Judgment series, will discuss how to bring culturally niche games into the growing global market.
- Gochi Suda – the founder of Grasshopper Manufacture and creator of the No More Heroes series, will discuss the difficulties that game developers face when attempting to strike a balance between their own personal style and market preferences.
- Benjamin Diebling – Director of Motion Capture at Quantic Dream, will discuss the growth and development of Quantic Dream's industry-leading motion capture technology.
These are just some of the discussions slated for the NetEase Games Developer Summit 2022. The event will run from April 18 to April 21 and will be broadcasted live on the official NetEase Games YouTube channel.
