Globe Telecom has announced that Globe At Home Fiber's capacity registered growth as high as 38.6 percent quarter-on-quarter.
Moreover, Globe said that its fiber user base increased by up to 36.5 percent quarter-on-quarter.
According to Globe, this improvement is attributed to the increasing demand for better internet connectivity for "remote learning, digital entertainment, and livelihood and productivity at home."
Additionally, the telco said that it rolled out 1.4 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) lines last year to meet that demand. This aggressive fiber rollout resulted in an increase of 208 percent in consolidated fiber take up for 2021.
Due to faster connection speeds, increased bandwidth capacity, and lower latency, FTTH is considered a more effective and reliable method of data delivery. It is more resistant to electromagnetic and radio signal interference than bulky copper lines.
Barbie Dapul, Globe At Home VP for Marketing, said that "putting fiber to homes remains a focus area for Globe" as they expand their reach and market share.
"We continue to invest in this area as we continue to see huge potential to expand our fiber footprint nationwide," added Dapul.
Globe At Home service revenues increased 10% to PHP 29.4 billion in 2021, up from PHP 26.8 billion in 2020. Additionally, this revenue exceeded 2019's pre-pandemic revenues by 35%.
