Riot Games has announced that Wild Rift Champions SEA (WCS) - Philippines will feature 8 of the best teams in the country competing for their share of a USD 160,000 prize pool.
2022 Wild Rift Champions SEA (WCS) - Philippines Overview
The Wild Rift Champions SEA (WCS) is a regional tournament organized by Riot Games, covering 6 competitive regions in Southeast Asia (including the Philippines), Taiwan, and Hong Kong. It features invited teams from last season's Wild Rift SEA Icon Series and newly qualified teams. WCS will be held from February 25 to April 10, 2022.
The 6 local competitive leagues will battle it out in a best-of-three, double round-robin regular season. The top six squads will move to the WCS Playoffs and play in a double-elimination format from April 1 until 10, 2022, with the winning teams representing their respective region in the WCS Finals. After that, the last four squads in WCS Finals will represent Southeast Asia on the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship, taking place in Europe this Summer.
Organized by Riot Games and Philippine Pro Gaming League (PPGL), WCS PH will feature 8 squads from the Qualifiers battling it out to compete for a share of the USD 160,000 (~ PHP 8 million) prize pool and claim the trophy.
Game Format
Here is the game format for the Wild Rift Champions SEA (WCS) - Philippines.
Group Stage:
- The group stage is composed of 2 invited teams from SEA Championship 2021 and 6 teams from the Qualifier.
- All matches are played in a best-of-three, double round-robin format.
- The top six teams will advance to the Playoffs.
Playoffs:
- All matches will be in a double-elimination format.
- The top 2 teams from the Group Stage will start in Round 2.
- The other 4 teams from the Group Stage will start in Round 1.
